As women’s liberation has wedged itself between the standard and nonconformity, we see another brand emerging; ‘The Future is Female’ says it distinguishes as women’s activist, yet makes assault jokes. It’ll utilize all the privilege hashtags, share all your social media posts yet by the day’s end, it’ll strip, and relinquishing the feminism it has folded over it. I’m discussing ‘counterfeit feminism’, and we’ve all experienced it – regardless of whether in the media, a get-together, or your Instagram DMs as a ‘good guy’.
Fake feminism creates wrong equivalences: in a conversation about assault and misuse, you’ll hear it make some noise, “However what might be said about fake allegations?” The issue is that the conversation about the assault, disregarding the uncommonness of dishonest indictments and the sheer bounty of rape reports. To women’s activists, root out the fakes from the inside; while it’s not your responsibility to teach them, help them out and show them where they’ve turned out badly.
